Determination of the efficacies of different phosphites in the management of tomato bacterial speck disease caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato

This study tested the efficacy of five different phosphites (calcium, copper, magnesium, potassium and zinc/manganese phosphites) a fungicide Fosetyl-Aluminum to inhibit bacterial speck disease severity caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato (Pst) on leaves. The were applied at recommended doses Pst inoculated plants in pots foliar spraying one-week intervals for total 4 weeks. kept controlled greenhouse under relative humidity (%75-90) temperature (22-24 °C) until symptoms appeared control plants. Phosphites inhibited leaves 42.1-75.0% first 22.8-90.3% second experiments. demonstrated direct influence speck. suggested that can be an effective alternative chemical disease. agent, Pst, causes tomatoes. initial are water-soaked, small dark brown spots surrounded yellow halo Since pathogen is seed-borne, difficult.
